GREAT NEWS

So, first of all, I did a bad thing. I did it for entirely good reasons, but I did a bad thing. Samantha got Mahina early. I know, I know, they're only 4 weeks. But if it's anyone I trust, it's my brother and sister in law! And they have more dog experience than anyone I know. For goodness sakes, my brother built this....
He calls it the Hound Dog Hilton. They run Black and Tan hounds and Blue Tick hounds on everything... coon, coyote, bear.... so Sam wanted a snuggle dog....as she called it, a "truck dog" :)
So she got Mahina early. And if this is any indication, she's doing just fine in her new home

Even Viper, the "vicious" hunter seems to like her!

So I think Mahina will be fine in her new home. And if all else fails... they're 20 minutes away!

Great news #2? Poor lil Yellow Boy has a new owner! I got this great email earlier today:

"Hello, my name is Brian and my wife and I and family are previous husky owners. We're looking to get a pup and saw your post on Hoobly. We've got 4 children and live out in the country with a fenced in yard. I'm a worship leader at a church and love dogs, specifically Siberians! If you could call me ASAP to discuss the last dog available that would be wonderful! Thanks! "

My first thought - holy cow, those people are us! LOL So I called Brian, and he and his family are coming Memorial Day weekend to pick up their new puppy and hear about how we became Christians! What a perfect match! Hoping to find great new friends out of this too!

QUICK UPDATE

Puppy shots: May 20th at 8:30 am. They will receive first shots and worming at that time. Pups will be available to pick up weekend of May 24th, unless you have other arrangements made. ONLY PUP LEFT AS OF RIGHT NOW IS THE LITTLE YELLOW MALE.

*Luna will also be dropped off at that time to be fixed. This is the last Luna/Zeus litter!

Socialization

People have asked me if our pups will be handled and socialized.... here's one example :) CJ is resting with the puppies, hanging out and watching netflix...
We also expanded - 2 boxes, one for living and one for potting - now we just have to train them to make it over the separator!

Who Is Still Available?

I've had lots of inquries the last few days (12 this weekend!), so I wanted to update people on who is available and who isn't.
5 of the pups are sold.... three are still available.

The sold's & their new families :)

I'm SOOO excited, because my sister in law (and therefore my brother, under great protest) is taking little red. Red is Trystan's favorite, and she will be hanging out with their 2 (almost 3 year old) twins, and LOTS of hunting dogs :)

The Cons

So, let's be real. Everyone loves Zeus. He's an amazing, patient, loveable ball of fluff. My super cute nephew last night announced that I had a wolf in my house. He got over it when he got kisses :)
Luna is a sweet, calm, gorgeous girl. Everyone loves her, too.
But, every breed has cons. Let me show you a few husky cons.....
First, fur. Lots of fur. Massive fur. This is from the bath yesterday....

And these are from right after I vacuumed.... RIGHT after. Right now, Zeus is shedding giant tufts of fur. If I knew how, I'd be spinning it into yarn.

Second, holes. Huskies dig because they burrow. In the past, in the arctic, huskies burrowed into the snow to stay warm. Sometimes mine do it to stay cold in the summer. Especially if they can do it right before a rain, so it fills up into a pool for them! :)
Here's a great example of one corner of our fenced in yard - this has basically become the dog area...
Those are ankle breakers. All that stuff along the fence line? Those are blockers, where they've dug to try and escape. This summer, there's a good chance we're burying rebar. Yeah. They're serious.

Third, they run. I don't take pics of that because, really, I'm a little busy chasing. Zeus without Luna only travels in a circle - down about 2 blocks, across the road, through the yards, and back to the front porch. Luna goes. And goes. And goes. Getting her back involves at least 2 hot dogs and the van.

So there you go. Just want to give you a realistic idea of what you might be dealing with when all you can see for right now is this:
Cuz let's be honest. He is fricking adorable!!!!!!

Just a quick pic

For those who might be concerned for the pups treatment around all our minions (kids)....here's what my 4 year old did as miss dark pink & I were snuggling....
All tucked in and warm in his blankey :)
